Royal Mail 2D Barcodes

Amazon Seller Topics
It looks like the 2D barcodes can now be tracked by Royal Mail on the Track & Trace page. Does this mean that we can now use this as tracking info to prove delivery was made and possibly cut out some of the spurious A 2 Z claims.

Will the 2D code be accepted by Amazon?

Amazon no, eBay yes

I would give this 2d tracking info to the buyer, you should find that it stops most "dodgy" claims before the buyer decides to try it on.

remember most members of teh public will have no idea packets now have this 2d tracking.

The most useful aspect for us is you can tell if the parcel is at the delivery office awaiting collection.

Comparing the INRs in Jan this year to last year we have resent about half the amount we did a year ago even thugh we've sold more

Do you have to have an OBA to be able to check the 2D code? I buy my postage through Amazon and it has the 2D code on the label. Is there a way I can check for delivery? Thanks

Unfortunately no, we had 3 last week, provided Amazon with all the tracking, lost the claims and on appeal were told that the tracking did not prove the items were delivered to the customers address, which is strange as our account manager with Royal Mail told us that Amazon had agreed to accept this weeks ago.

.
And just add, the tracking is based on GPS locating, most people now have Sat Navs & know what this means.

I do hope Amazon see 2D barcodes as a good thing and not direct competition to their own logistics & FBA as I am up for anything that helps improve seller metrics.

We add the reference on dispatch, but as cram says, if taken to A-Z then Amazon will not accept it, but ebay do.

All it does is not automatically grant the A-Z, but you lose in the end.

Recently, when contacted by a couple of customers saying that its not been received even though delivery notification says it has, we supplied a pdf of their order, a copy of the certificate of posting (from DMO) and a screen shot of the tracking site showing delivery.

The Order confirmation will show the delivery address which will match the address on the Certificate of Posting, the Unique Item ID on the Certificate of posting is the reference number used on the Tracking Site, the full trail as it were.

The buyers have not progressed it to A-Z, with the last one, adamant that they have not received it despite all the evidence provided, messaging me last night to say that their husband had took it in and put it away and not told her.

The downside of this delivery notification is that as a seller we are more likely to stand our ground only to be punished by Amazon with refunding and a hit on metrics.

I have just tried and the 2D barcodes can not be tracked by Royal Mail on the Track & Trace page. It still does not work, the website says
"By putting barcoded labels on your parcels you'll be able to enjoy free Delivery Confirmation when we go live from the Summer."

So how come can you do it and I can't?

Do you have a DMO account, have you hit the T&T button on teh dashboard that takes you straight to RM website?

the labels work in the same way as Amazon logistics. They put it through the letter box and scan it as 'delivered'.

Problem is when its not the correct letterbox. (bit different if they have had to knock the door). How many times do you get someone elses letters? I had an amazon delivery a couple of weeks back where they claimed to have delivered it, they had! to my neighbour by mistake, who brought it round 2 days latter.

If you use average weight for 24 and 48 hour parcels, the system is'nt tracking at the moment. It will only work if you input the weight of each parcel, as you have to do for tracked items.

Hi its working for us? its only on parcels through i dont think letters is working at the moment, we sent RM48 RM24

we though it wasnt working as we where tracing the Shipment No but its the Unique Item ID that needs too be tracked
