I wont be able to ship in time

Amazon Seller Topics
I received an order and realized after that I didn't increase the handling time and it was set to the standard 1-2 days. It is due to ship out by today but This wont be shipping out for another few days, what should I do? Should I email the buyer to let them know what happened? Or should I just update the tracking once it does ship even though it will be late?

The buyer is probably a lot more interested in when they will receive the item than when you shipped it. If you are concerned they won't receive the item in a timely manner, you can always use a faster shipping method than they paid for.
If purchasing shipping through Amazon, they should receive notification when you ship, so no need to email them separately.

Can you upgrade the shipping service so that the order still arrives within the delivery period promised to the buyer by Amazon?

I drop ship so I cannot ship it faster myself. It says it will be shipping on or before 8/26 and deliver by 9/1 but according to Amazon i have to ship by today and deliver by 8/27

I understand I am taking a risk but since I am new I am still learning everything about selling on Amazon. What would be the best way to handle this situation? Should I just leave it alone and mark it shipped and upload tracking when it ships? Should I mark it as shipped today and upload tracking later? Should I email the buyer and let them know it wont be shipping until Next week?

Greetings StephMohr09,

Thanks for your post.

If you do not ship within the specified time-frame, the order will be flagged as late. Late shipments will affect your Customer Metrics.

We ask that sellers refrain from marking orders as shipped if they have not actually shipped; this is a violation of Amazon policy.

If you cannot meet the ship by deadline, we recommend cancelling the order, and contacting the buyer to let them know.

Stop using a drop shipper and carry the products you wish to sell. There will be many problems like this when you allow someone else to control your business.
I would email the buyer and let them know.

I'm tempted to tell you to do as you suggest because the last thing we need is another soon to be suspended drop shipper... but I will not.
If you are confirming shipping when the package has not been shipped, you will soon be suspended. The information the carrier has, needs to match the information Amazon has.

If you are new you should know, Amazon is not a learn as you go venue. Suspension here are for life. When you are suspended it will likely be for life. Amazon expects you to have a professional well run business model before coming to their venue.

Good Luck
